Panagiotis GEORGIADIS was awarded the  Bachelor Degree in Chemistry by the University of Athens, Faculty of Science in 1985. He obtained the  Ph.D. Degree in Biochemistry from the  University College London, University of London in 1992. Title of the PhD thesis '' Studies on the structure and repair of oligonucleotides containing Ο⁶--alkylguanine and Ο^4-alkylthymine''.

Since 1994 till now he is a member of the Laboratory of Chemical Carcinogenesis and Genetic Toxicology, Division of Biological Research and Biotechnology, National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece, initially as a Post-doctoral assistant (1994-1996) and subsequently as a junior researcher (1996-2000) and a research assistant professor (2000-2005). His interests are focused in the areas of a) the role of nitrosamine-induced DNA adducts in carcinogenesis and b) the study of gene-environment interactions in carcinogenesis using Molecular Epidemioly techniques.

He has published several papers in  peer-reviewed journals  (Carcinogenesis, Cancer Res.,  Nucl. Acids Res., Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention) and was honored to be a reviewer for journals such as  Cancer Res  και Journal of Exposure Analysis and Environmental Epidemiology. He was invited to give lectures in international conferences and symposia ( EUROTOX 2003 e.t.c.), and is in the organizing committee  of  the European Environmental Mutagen Society (EEMS) conference  2005 in Kos, Greece.  He is a member of the  European Environmental Mutagen Society (EEMS).
