Francesco Camia was born in Cesena (Italy) in 1976. He graduated from the Classics Department of the University of Rome ''La Sapienza'' in 2000, was a member of the Italian Archaeological School at Athens (S.A.I.A.), where he specialized in Greek epigraphy (2001-2003), and obtained his Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of Rome ''La Sapienza'' in 2007. He has taken part in several archaeological excavations, both in Italy and Greece (Crete and Lemnos). He has worked as adjunct assistant professor of Classics at the John Cabot University of Rome (2008). Since 2008 he is a member of the Southern Greece Programme at K.E.R.A./N.H.R.F.
