Despoina Papakonstantinou-Diamantourou was born in Athens in 1939. She graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology, University of Athens, in 1962; for her PhD (1971) she collected, published and commented upon testimonies about ancient Pella. She worked at KERA from 1984 to 2006, when she retired. She continues to work on subjects 4 and 5 (see below) and continues to teach (since 1991) Greek Epigraphy in the Seminar of historical sciences of the NHRF.
Main areas of activity at KERA (1984-2006):
1. Macedonian epigraphic archive.
2. Squeeze archive of inscriptions from Macedonia.
3. Photographic archive of inscriptions from Macedonia.
4. Supplement to IG X 2, 1 (in collaboration with the Berlin Academy of Sciences and P. Nigdelis [Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki]).
5. Study and publication of metal objects from the old excavations of Pella (1957-1964).
6. Supervision of post-graduate archaeological studies.

Research interests
History, Archaeology and Epigraphy of Macedonia, especially of Pella and Thessaloniki.

Major ongoing projects (post-retirement)

• Supplement to IG X 2, 1 (in collaboration with the Berlin Academy of Sciences and P. Nigdelis [Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki]).
• Study and publication of metal objects from the old excavations of Pella (1957-1964).
