L.G. Mendoni was born in Athens in 1960. She graduated from the Arsakeion Psychikou in 1977, from the Department of Classics of the University of Athens in 1981, and from the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens in 1984. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Athens in 1988. She has worked in archaeological research projects and excavations of the University of Athens and of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and as research assistant in the Southern Greece Programme of KERA. Since 1987 she is the director of a multi-scientific team for archaeological research in Kea, Cyclades. Since 1989 she served as a researcher at KERA. During 1995-1998, she was the director of the scientific project ''History of the Landscape and Local Histories. From the Natural Environment to the Cultural Landscape''. She is a member of the German Archaeological Institute and of many scientific societies and institutions. During 1994-1999, she was a scientific consultant in the Hellenic Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works and in the Ministry of the Aegean. From March 1999 till March 2004, L.G. Mendoni was detached to serve as Secretary General to the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. She has received the Commendatore (II Classe), Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta΄Italiana of the Republic of Italy.

Research interests
History, epigraphy, topography, study of the landscape as cultural property, protection, presentation and management of cultural heritage.

• Ancient Kea: a. Prosopography, testimonia and Corpus of the inscriptions of the island .b. Archaeological research and topography of the ancient Karthaia.
• Roman names in the Cyclades.
