Born in Lefkada in 1948. Degree studies in Modern Greek history and literature at Athens University's School of Philosophy (1966-1971). Researcher at the Venice Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies (1976-1977). Specialization and research in history of ideas; of mentalities and behaviours; of culture; of the book and of historiography.
Research Associate of the INR/NHRF, initially as a volunteer (1971-1972), then under project contract (1975), subsequently under employment contract since 1978. Appointed Senior Researcher in 1990 and Director of Research in 1995, in charge of the INR/NHRF programme History of Historiography (15th - 20th c), also in charge of various research projects and academic missions.
Member since 1971 of the Association for the Study of Neohellenism; member of the Board; of the editing committee of the academic journal Mnimon, vols. I (1971) to XXIX (2008) and of its Seminar Committee. Since 1983, member and representative of the committee of Greek Youth Historical Archives of the General Secretariat for Youth, and co-supervisor of its 101 research projects. In charge of publications (47 books, 2 CD-ROM) and 3 conferences and its seminar. Member of the Association for the Lefkadian Studies (1993), consultant for the organization of its conferences and symposia as well as of its programme of publications (academic journal and 39 books).
Co-director of editions of collective books. Co-organizer of four book exhibitions and co-editor of their catalogues. Supervisor of book editions. Co-organizer of 32 conferences and co-editor of their Proceedings. Member of editing committees of 4 academic journals. Member of 6 academic associations. Scholar in charge of the founding of the Museum of Typography of the Bank of Piraeus' Cultural and Technological Foundation and of Mt Athos Iviron Monastery's Library Catalogue of
Printed Matter.
