MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS

- Chemistry and physics of new multifunctional carbon-based nanostructured materials - fullerenes, nanotubes and graphene materials.
- Chemical functionalization and characterization.
- Study of electronic, photophysical and biological properties towards nano- and bio-technological applications.
- Donor-acceptor hybrids for mimicking natural photosynthesis, solar energy conversion, photovoltaics, sol-gel, liquid crystals, non linear optics and drug and gene delivery systems.

EXTERNAL FUNDING

Coordinator and principal investigator (EU-FP7, EURYI-ESF/EUROHORCs, JSPS) or participant (EU-FP6, COST-ESF) in competitive international and national (GSRT-ΠΑΒΕΤ, ΕΣΠΑ) research projects, in collaboration with academic and industrial organizations.
