The Dipartimento dei Beni Culturali – Università degli Studi di Padova, the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation, co-organise the International Conference “Biographing the Institutions: Greek-Italian Administrative Careers, 17th–19th Centuries”, to be held on October 16-17, 2025, in Padua (Sala Sartori, Palazzo Liviano).
The aim of the conference is to research and highlight new approaches in the history of public administration, to investigate the formation and functioning of administrative institutions in the 19th century, to study the characteristics and social mobility of civil servants, and to exploit the potential offered by digital humanities and biographical databases for historical research.
The conference is organised within the framework of the research project “Biographing the State: A Digital Prosopography of the Greek Public Administration (19th century) | BIOSTATE“, implemented under the action funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) titled “Funding of Basic Research (Horizontal Support for all Sciences)” of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0”, with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU (Project ID: H.F.R.I. 15056).
