TRIPOLIS

The digital application “The Settlements of Tripoli, 17th–21st Century” reconstructs the residential, demographic, and administrative landscape of the area that today forms the Municipality of Tripoli, from the Venetian and Ottoman periods to the present day. Through the systematic processing of historical sources, censuses, and narrative testimonies, it maps the evolution of the region’s 105 settlements and 5 monasteries, tracing their transformations over time. The application features thematic sections with historical records, demographic charts, census maps, photographic documentation, and an anthology of narratives about Tripoli during the Greek Revolution. The project builds upon and enriches the research databases of the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation.
