CLOSEEducation & training
The National Research Foundation (NHRF), in addition to its pioneering research work in the humanities and natural sciences, has made significant contributions to the education of young scientists, the training of scientific personnel in modern techniques and tools, and the dissemination of knowledge to the general public.
For many years, the NHRF has maintained close cooperation with all universities in Greece and important universities abroad, within the framework of which its researchers participate as lecturers in a variety of postgraduate programs and are often invited to give lectures at undergraduate or postgraduate level. In addition, the Foundation’s Institutes welcome students to carry out their practical training at the undergraduate level, their thesis for a postgraduate degree, as well as young scientists working on their doctoral dissertations.
Today, the NHRF actively participates in the organization and implementation of Inter-institutional Postgraduate Programs.
At the same time, the Institutes of the NHRF implement specialized scientific seminars for the research community and series of seminars, on a weekly basis, on specific scientific issues.
Since 2016, Summer Schools have been organized in the research fields of the three Institutes of the NHRF, offering knowledge to students and young researchers from around the world.
The organization of conferences and specialized seminar series is a central training and dissemination activity. Between 2019 and 2023, the NHRF organized 91 international scientific conferences and 202 seminar series.
In addition to researchers, young scientists, and students, the NHRF seeks to bring schoolchildren and the general public into contact with the world of research and science. Indicatively, the following are organized on an annual basis:
- Visits by high school students to the premises and laboratories of the NHRF Institutes. Between 2019 and 2023, more than 600 students visited the Foundation’s laboratory facilities.
- Annual series of educational events under the general title “Science Society” with the aim of informing the wider public about important scientific issues (15 series during the period 2019-2023). These thematic cycles stem from the cognitive and research subjects covered by the NHRF and concern both the natural and human sciences.
