e-NIOS
e-NIOS I.K.E (e-Noesis Inspired Operational Systems, www.e-nios.com) is a spin-off company of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) active in the field of Bioinformatics and was founded by the members of the Metabolic Engineering and Bioinformatics Program, Aristotle Hadjioannou (Researcher B’), Eleftherios Pilalis and Yannis Valavanis (post-doctoral researchers). The company’s expertise is based on interdisciplinary research experience in the fields of Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computational Intelligence, Data Mining and Decision Support Systems.
ResQ Biotech
ResQ Biotech (www.resqbiotech.com) is a spin-off of the Institute of Chemical Biology of the National Hellenic Research Foundation established in 2019 at the Patras Science Park. Its mission is to discover potential drugs against diseases caused by defective protein folding and aggregation (Alzheimer’s disease, lateral myotropic sclerosis, cancer, systemic amyloidosis, etc.) using its innovative platform technology. This biotechnological approach uses genetically modified E. coli bacteria to synthesis billions of different cyclic oligopeptides, an emerging class of therapeutic molecules, while singling out those that inhibit the problematic folding and aggregation of target proteins. ResQ Biotech aspires to become a partner of choice for pharmaceutical/biotech companies developing drugs for diseases of problematic protein folding and aggregation and seeking new molecules to expand their portfolio. ResQ Biotech is currently in the process of raising Seed Capital.
ACE
The aim of “ACE” Advanced Cure Electronic is the discovery, preclinical development and commercial exploitation of conjugated polymeric nanoparticles with therapeutic properties against various forms of cancer and new conducting polymers for bioelectronic applications.
This will mainly be achieved by:
- through the research, development and exploitation in any appropriate way of the research results produced by the research team developed by the laboratory of Dr. Christos Chochos and Dr. Vasilios Gregoriou at the National Hellenic Research Foundation,
- through the research, development and exploitation of innovative methods, technologies and tools and their application or the application of existing methods, technologies and tools in the field of biotechnology and life sciences, or the improvement of existing ones in the company’s areas of interest and/or their more efficient integration. Emphasis will be placed on the commercial and/or productive exploitation of research results.
