Partnership development

Collaborations within ICB

ICB researchers with diverse complementary expertise, encouraged by the interactive and highly motivating environment of the Institute, have developed longstanding fruitful internal collaborations, which are reflected in joint national and European projects, joint scientific publications and international patents, as well as in participation in major European and national research infrastructures.

Collaborations within NHRF

ICB researchers have had several successful collaborations with the Institute of Theoretical and Physical Chemistry of NHRF. A recent activity is the emblematic action “3GPV-4INDUSTRY Development of efficient third generation PV materials and devices to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises to the green energy production. A great opportunity to further tighten the relationships and stimulate collaboration is offered by the funded project Creation of a Center of Excellence on CancerTheranostics and Bioelectronics” and the newly approved projects in the context of the internal inter-institutional call for exploratory research projects with the participation of at least two NHRF Institutes.

National collaborations with academia and clinics

ICB researchers collaborate with all the Greek Universities and Research Centers in the context of funded research projects and implementation of Ph.D, M.Sc. and diploma theses. In addition, a number of ICB staff provide lectures in the context of MSc programmes organised by Greek Universities. In the context of the Athens Comprehensive Cancer Center (ACCC) ICB teamed with 7 selected significant hospital clinics in Athens.

Furthermore, ICB coordinated one and participated in five (5) national research infrastructures.

  • Coordination of the national research infrastructure in Structural Biology “INSPIRED: The National Research Infrastructures on Integrated Structural Biology, Drug Screening Efforts and Drug target functional characterization.
  • BIOIMAGING-GR: A Greek Research Infrastructure for Visualizing and Monitoring Fundamental Biological Processes
  • OPENSCREEN-GR: An Open-Access Research Infrastructure of Chemical Biology and Target-Based Screening Technologies for Human and Animal Health, Agriculture and the Environment
  • EATRIS-GR: fast, tailored access to cutting-edge enabling technologies in translational research
  • ELIXIR-GR: ELIXIR -GR enhances the potential of the Greek bioinformatics community to offer open, easily accessible and state-of-the-art services to the Greek and the international academic community and other stakeholders, such as industry and the health sector
  • OMIC-ENGINE: Synthetic Biology: from omics technologies to genomic engineering

International collaborations with academia and clinics

Ongoing active collaborations with many international research groups are in place. The participation of ICB researchers in several COST Actions has improved their networking, enabling the creation of fruitful and complementary partnerships. The strong network of collaborators has enabled ICB researchers to successfully attract external highly competitive funding through excellent proposals (i.e Horizon Europe and H2020 projects, COST Actions, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, ERC and others). ICB participates in the flagship EU Joint Action on Networks of Expertise on Cancer (JANE-2).

Collaborations with the industry

ICB collaborated with many Greek and foreign companies active in the fields of health, drugs, biotechnology, cosmetics and  food in the context of national and European projects and service provision.
