Dr. Panagiota Papadopoulou has been awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01-01) for the project CryoLipNano, with a total budget of €197,263.68, which will be implemented at the Institute of Chemical Biology (ICB) of NHRF.
The project focuses on investigating the ultrastructure and intracellular trafficking of RNA lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) using advanced cryo-electron microscopy, imaging techniques, and proteomics. LNPs currently represent the most advanced and clinically approved platform for RNA delivery, yet only a small fraction successfully releases RNA into the cell cytoplasm.
The research project SPARTAN received the Seal of Excellence from the European Commission following the evaluation of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships call (HORIZON-MSCA-2025-PF-01-01) under the Horizon Europe programme.
The project aims to develop the first organic-based high-performance photodetectors and imaging systems for the shortwave infrared (SWIR) spectral range, using flexible and sustainable organic semiconductors. It will be coordinated by Dr. Chochos at the ICB/NHRF, with a total budget of €4,051,000, bringing together a consortium of 10 leading academic and industrial partners across Europe, including Imperial College London, The University of Manchester, The University of Edinburgh, Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Universidade da Coruña, and the National Technical University of Athens.

In this podcast, Kostas Tampakis, Senior Researcher in the Institute of Historical Research, talks about the relationship between the development of Natural Sciences and the historical context of the Cold War. How and why did the science of seismology and oceanography develop? Why did the Americans send men to the Moon? Why did Gagarin say “I went to space but I did not see God”? How is the teaching of Physics at schools in Greece related to NATO choices? Why was the Research Institute Demokritos founded in Greece? Is GPS part of a Cold War policy?

This year’s numismatic seminar will be held in hybrid mode. The aim of the seminar is to demonstrate the strength of the numismatic research in Greece by pointing out the links and interactions of the discipline with history and archaeology.
Organised by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) and the École française d’Athènes (EFA).

The AmphiPoly research project aims to scientifically document the reconstruction of the monument’s original appearance, including its polychromy and iconography, in all its chronological phases. Digital, three-dimensional representation and aesthetic restoration is implemented, based on archaeometric measurements, digital tools, and historical-archaeological research.
