The research activities of ICB are epitomized in three interconnected strategic pillars, supported by several competitive grants. ICB researchers contribute, interact, collaborate, synergize, and exchange knowledge and expertise to successfully meet the excellence goals of the Institute. This holistic model bridges basic science with translational outcomes in biomedical applications.

The research priorities of ICB are:

  • Strengthen the synergies between researchers of ICB to enhance cohesion and to stimulate active collaboration based on inter-disciplinarity, at the interface of Chemistry and Biology.
  • Maintain the ICB’s scientific excellence at national and international level.
  • Strengthen and enrich the network of collaborations in Greece and abroad.
  • Enhance the exploitation of research results and in-house know-how.
  • Promote active participation in public-private partnerships in the fields of public health and the environment, with a positive impact on the economy, regional development and the formulation and execution of policies.
  • Foster interactions in translational research and related applications/services.
  • Recruit highly skilled researchers to bring in new research directions and strengthen existing ones in line with ICB’s strategic goals in Chemical Biology.
  • Upgrade of existing and acquire new research infrastructure.
  • Further expand ICB’s activities in education, training, dissemination and outreach of scientific knowledge.
