The Director of the ICB is elected for a four-year term by an external committee appointed by the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation (NCRTI). He/She is responsible for the implementation of the development, research strategy of the Institute and its exploitation (in collaboration with the SCI of the ICB, see below), ensures its smooth operation, the preparation of the annual budget and represents the ICB on the Board of Directors of the NHRF. In case of absence, the Director is replaced by the Deputy Director.
The Director is assisted by the Scientific Council of the Institute (SCI) whose members are elected every two years by the ICB personnel. The SCI monitors the Institute’s research and development program, contributes to shaping the strategy, organization chart and human resources policy, evaluates the research work of the Institute and contributes substantially to its evaluation process.
An International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) offers valuable advice for the widening of the mission, the goals and the organization of ICB. The ISAB comprises six internationally recognized scientists in the fields of Chemical Biology, Drug discovery, Prognostic/Predictive biomarkers and Biotechnology.
Meetings of the general assembly of the ICB (permanent staff) are held ideally every 6 months.
Administrative support is provided by one permanent secretary and two additional administrators for ICB’s grant management support. A chief technical scientist efficiently orchestrates the functional operation of the Institute and resolves any emerging technical and safety issues.
