This research programme includes the study of various aspects of Byzantine society, particularly through the examination of Byzantine seals. It highlights issues such as gender, identity, and otherness, with particular emphasis on prosopographical research, that is, the study of both the personnel of the state administration and the Church, as well as aristocratic families and individual figures.
