The study of objects used in the daily life of pre-industrial societies faces several challenges: a) the clarification of terminology used in the sources; (b) the precise identification of their function, as these objects were often multifunctional and reused; (c) the distinction between local and imported goods, as well as the identification of the influences exerted by the latter upon the former; and (d) the correlation of the objects attested in written sources with surviving examples preserved in museums and archaeological contexts.

The aim of the project is to conduct an interdisciplinary study of everyday objects in the Greek regions under Venetian rule, drawing on both written sources and archaeological evidence.
