The project undertakes a comprehensive investigation and publication of archival material from the Duca di Candia and Notai di Candia series preserved in the State Archives of Venice. Drawing on this documentary evidence, its ultimate goal is to catalogue the monasteries and to document the characteristics of both male and female monastic life in Venetian-occupied Crete during the 14th and 15th centuries.
