The late Hellenistic period is marked by the Roman presence in the Greek world and the penetration of Roman coinage, which becomes evident in monetary circulation. The case of Epirus is particularly noteworthy, as its geographical features oriented it westward. Local issues circulated alongside those from the mints of the Ionian Islands, as well as of Italy and Rome.
