The ‘Alexanders’ as the international currency of the Hellenistic world

A study of the use and spread of the gold and silver coinage of Alexander—referred to in ancient literary sources as “Alexanders”—and of its establishment as the international currency of the Hellenistic world. An international conference was organized on the subject, bringing together a group of specialists, in collaboration with the University of the Sorbonne.
