Christy Constantakopoulou is the co-editor, with Prof. Hans Beck and Prof. Jeremy McInerney, of the seven-volume series of The Oxford History of the Classical Greek World, published by Oxford University Press. This work belongs to the same series as the Oxford History of the Archaic Greek World and the Oxford History of the Hellenistic World, which aims to replace the Cambridge Ancient History as the principal reference work in ancient history. The seven-volume series The Oxford History of the Classical Greek World consists of 172 chapters written by 165 scholars from the international community of classical studies and ancient history. The first volume, entitled The environment and Resources, will be published in early 2026, and includes 21 chapters with a total length of 190,000 words.  The volume explores the multifaceted relationship between human activity and the environment, with emphasis on the geographical infrastructure of the ancient Greek world and the economic activities of the Classical period. The volume is divided into four parts, each addressing the following themes:

  1. Describing Landscapes
  2. Adaptions and Responses
  3. Production
  4. Economic Activities
