Subproject 16 aims to organize a seminar (workshop) for the hands-on training of postgraduate students and researchers in the basic tools of genome and metagenome analysis (shotgun sequencing, de novo assembly, gene prediction and annotation, phylogenetic classification, comparative analysis, etc.).

Participants, using the ANASTASIA metagenomic analysis platform, which has been implemented within the Galaxy workflow environment, will become familiar with the Galaxy software, which enables the management of large-scale data and the automated execution of complex workflows.

In addition, they will be trained in the automated detection of enzymatic activities in metagenomes using Machine Learning (ML) methodologies, as well as in the automated reconstruction and analysis of molecular pathways identified in genomes and metagenomes.

The workshop will last one day and will be open to participants who may have little or no prior experience with such software or with genome/metagenome analysis, as the seminar will also include introductory theoretical lectures.

There will be six training modules, each covering a different area of genome and metagenome analysis, and participants will receive hands-on training through guided software exercises and small-scale practical activities.
