Principal Investigator
George Tolias
The main objective of the proposal is the public dissemination of the historical, social, cultural, and political landscape of the Greek Revolution of 1821 through the creation of an interactive, open-access digital atlas. This is an innovative interdisciplinary project of high scholarly quality, documenting the revolutionary events, as well as the state of the economy, society, and culture during the revolutionary period (1821–1832). Special emphasis is placed on the European perspective of the Greek Revolution, through the recording of the efforts of the revolutionary administrations and Philhellenes to organize modern infrastructures.
The project builds upon already completed or ongoing research initiatives, complementing and enhancing them. It aims to provide accessible and reliable documentation of this central episode in modern Greek and European history through the internet and social media platforms.
