Σε αυτό το ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα εντάσσεται η μελέτη διαφόρων πτυχών της βυζαντινής κοινωνίας, ιδίως μέσα από τη μελέτη των Βυζαντινών σφραγίδων. Αναδεικνύονται πτυχές όπως τα ζητήματα φύλου, ταυτότητας και ετερότητας, και ιδιαίτερα τα ζητήματα προσωπογραφίας, η μελέτη δηλαδή τόσο του προσωπικού της κρατικής διοίκησης και της Εκκλησίας, όσο και οικογενειών της ανώτερης τάξης και μεμονωμένων προσωπικοτήτων.
