ΚΛΕΙΣΙΜΟΡωμαϊκή επαρχιακή διοίκηση και ελληνόφωνη Ανατολή

Η έρευνα εστιάζει στην πολιτική κουλτούρα στις πόλεις των ανατολικών επαρχιών και την αλληλεπίδρασή της με τη ρωμαϊκή αρχή μέσα από πολλαπλές πηγές, αλλά και στις αλλαγές που συντελούνται στο επίπεδο της κοινωνικής ζωής των πόλεων. Αναλύονται η πολιτική οργάνωση, αλλά και η ρητορική και οι πρακτικές που διαμόρφωσαν τις επικρατούσες αντιλήψεις περί πολιτικής οργάνωσης στις ελληνόφωνες επαρχίες κατά την αυτοκρατορική περίοδο. Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζουν οι επίσημες «μαρτυρίες» (έπαινοι) που αφορούσαν πολίτες και περιέχονταν τόσο σε ψηφίσματα πόλεων όσο και σε ρωμαϊκά διοικητικά έγγραφα, οι οποίες λειτουργούσαν ενίοτε ως εργαλεία επίλυσης διαφορών μεταξύ των επιφανών μελών των τοπικών κοινωνιών. Εξετάζονται επίσης ο ευεργετισμός και η σχέση του με τα μεγάλα επιγραφικά σύνολα στις πόλεις της Μικράς Ασίας. Συμπληρωματικά, αντλούνται στοιχεία από έργα της Δεύτερης Σοφιστικής σχετικά με τον ρόλο των ελίτ στη διαμόρφωση μιας κοινής ελληνορωμαϊκής ταυτότητας στις ανατολικές επαρχίες.
