Curriculum Vitae

MANTHOS G. PAPADOPOULOS

Nationality : Greek, born in Athens, Greece, in 1948

Education

  • B. Sc in Chemistry, University of Patras, Greece (1971).
  • Ph. D in Theoretical Chemistry, University of Essex U.K. (1976).

Scholarships

  • The State Scholarship (IKY) was awarded for my undergraduate studies.
  • A scholarship from Skilitsion during my Ph.D.

Career

  • A Postdoctoral fellowship was granted by the Science and Engineering Research Council, University of Bristol (1975-1977).
  • Researcher at the National Hellenic Research Foundation since 1979.

Research interests

My work focuses on the development and implementation of methods for the computation of the correlation, vibrational and relativistic correction to the linear and non-linear (NLO) optical properties of molecules. Approaches have been developed for the calculation of the NLO properties of crystalline solids and liquids. The derived know-how is used for the design of NLO materials.

Training

I have trained 1 MSc student, 3 PhD students, 5 post-docs and many diploma students.

Publications

  • I have published 90 articles in the leading journals of my field.
  • I was invited to contribute to volumes, which have been published in honour of:

  • I edited a book entitled "Nonlinear responses on molecules, solids, and liquids: Methods and Applications", published by Research Signpost (2003).

Funding

My research has been funded by:

  • The British Telecom
  • The British Council
  • The Royal Society ( UK)
  • The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (U.K)
  • European Union I have participated in the following programmes
    • Human Capital and Mobility (CHRX-CT93-0334)
    • Training and Mobility of Researchers (FMRX-CT96-0047). I was scientist of charge in one node and assistant to the coordinator.
      My funding was 240.000 euro.
