ABOUT IABG

The International Association of Biomedical Gerontology (IABG)

IABG was founded by Denham Harman, in 1985. Beginning in New York City the IABG has held a congress every two years. When the meeting year of the IABG coincides with that of the International Association of Gerontology (IAG), the IABG meeting is held just prior to that of the IAG (with the exception of the congress 2005). Except for the first and third congresses, the proceedings have been published.

The purpose of the IABG is to:

(1) make the general public more aware of the potential of biomedical aging research to increase the span of healthy productive life and to decrease the social and economic problems of age; and

(2) promote greater communication among the worldwide community of individuals engaged in biomedical aging research.
