ΚΛΕΙΣΙΜΟΘρησκεία και οικονομία των ιερών

Μελετάμε την σημασία της σύνδεσης οικονομίας και λατρείας στα ιερά, ειδικά μέσα από την διερεύνηση της οικονομικής λειτουργίας των ιερών. Οι ιεροί χώροι συνδέθηκαν άρρηκτα με το χρήμα ως σύμβολο δύναμης και εξουσίας. Μέσα από αυτή τη σχέση πολλά ιερά αναδείχθηκαν σε ισχυρά κέντρα μεγάλης προβολής. Περιπτώσεις όπως εκείνο του Ποσειδώνα στην Καλαύρεια του Πόρου, της Δήμητρας στην Ελευσίνα και βέβαια του Απόλλωνα στη Δήλο υποδεικνύουν τη δυναμική των ιερών στην ευρύτερη οικονομία. Πέρα από θρησκευτικά και λατρευτικά κέντρα, τα αρχαία ιερά λειτούργησαν ως σημαντικά κέντρα οικονομικής παραγωγής (πχ. για αναθήματα) και ως σημαντικά κέντρα ανα-διανομής εμπορικών προϊόντων. Ειδικότερα, τα αρχαϊκά ιερά συνδέονται με την λειτουργία των πρώτων κινούμενων αγορών στον αρχαίο κόσμο. Η σημασία των ιερών για την αρχαία οικονομία αναδεικνύεται μέσα από μια σειρά μελετών για μεμονωμένα ιερά (π.χ Κωνσταντακοπούλου για το ιερό του Δεσποτικού), αλλά και μέσα από συνθετικές μελέτες για την σύνδεση θρησκείας και οικονομίας (Κωνσταντακοπούλου, Δήλος από την αρχαϊκή έως την πρώιμη ελληνιστική περίοδο).
