The Section of Byzantine Research, under the current Director of the Institute, is coordinated by a Section’s Coordinator, a Director of Research, with a two-year term. At regular intervals, a plenary meeting of the members of the Section is organized to discuss academic, scientific, and administrative issues.
As of 2024, the coordination of the Section of Byzantine Research has been undertaken by the Director of Research:

Scientific Council of the Institute
Since 2024, two members of the Section of Byzantine Research have been serving on the Scientific Council of the Institute for a two-year term:
Marina Koumanoudi (Principal Researcher and President of the Scientific Council)
Zisis Melissakis (Director of Research)
SBR Committees
To facilitate the operation of the Section of Byzantine Research, committees of three or more members, often with specific responsibilities, have been established. Committees are appointed by the Director in consultation with the Section’s Coordinator. Since 2024, the following committees have been in operation:
