The event “Reconstructing Premodern Recipes” is dedicated to the study and reconstruction of premodern recipes, primarily from the Greek alchemical and medical traditions.

The presentations combine historical research with experimental reconstruction and philosophical analysis, highlighting both the technical and methodological challenges as well as the significance of these recipes for understanding the scientific knowledge and practices of the past.

At the same time, the process of reconstruction emerges as an important interpretive tool, as it helps clarify ambiguous terms and problematic segments of technical texts and allows for a deeper understanding of their content.
