A8. ARCHIVES OF THE PATRIARCHATE OF CONSTANTINOPLE
(Dimitris Apostolopoulos, Panagiotis Michailaris, Machi Paizi, Julie Evangelou)

This documentation project is related to a research programme aiming to reconstruct the lost Archives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople of the first 150 years after the Ottoman conquest, in other words to track down historical evidence which was separated from the Archives of the Patriarchate over the course of time.
The first important achievement of this documentation project was the restitution of the "Nomimon of the Great Church", an official law compilation, which was constituted in the Patriarchate in 1564. Parts of this valuable historical testimony, which was officially used for at least 30 years at the PC, were tracked down in Samos, Paris and Athens; it was restituted and presented to the academic community through the publication of two volumes (2008, 2010).
The second achievement was the publication of the preserved official acts which were issued by the PC during the second half of the fifteenth century - texts that have not been preserved in the Archives of the PC but were instead tracked down in archives and libraries in Greece and abroad.

The current goal of the documentation project is to compile and publish official patriarchal acts dating back to the sixteenth century.
